When we realize that happiness comes from within we become free. Free from the expectations that someone else or something else outside of us are responsible for our own happiness. To me it all starts on the inside.
First of all the old saying “Man know thyself” is basic here. By knowing ourselves truly, honestly and fully we get to know what our needs are, where they come from, why we have them. Awareness is a big key in it all. Being aware of who we are, why we react like we do, why we act like we do based on our inner programming stored inside in the unconscious and subconscious as well as the conscious.
Extreme awareness of self, combined with detachement (the ability to step aside of myself and observe what is going on) is to me very powerful tools in getting to know myself in order for me to be able to see what is really going on. It also takes courage and brutal honesty with oneself, because what comes up is sometimes really shitty, ugly and far from light and can at times be extremely painful if there are deep wounds connected to it. Most of the times when the shit comes to the surface by daring to face it (and maybe first of all face the fact that it exists, no matter how “light” I am) you start the healing process just by facing it. When you face it you also accept it, which is an act of love in itself. Accept it and embrace it with compassion and grace most often is enough to transform it. Acceptance is then too a part of ending the civil war within myself when different parts of myself is at war. Ending that war gives me peace and harmony and that in turn makes me feel happy.
In order to ascend we need to descend, which is something spiritual people often won’t realize, because “being spiritual” is interpreted as being better and not having any inside shit.
I am not done with my shit yet, so I keep my awareness up and do what I can to take full responsibility of self to be happy, even if the way there is rough and painful at times, it is more than worth it! 🙂
